Oil and Gas Measurements
NER has a long history of offering cutting-edge research and innovative solutions.
NER serves the oil and gas industry as both a measurements services and R&D provider, and a laboratory systems manufacturer and supplier. As a laboratory measurement service provider, NER performs a wide variety of high quality, customizable rock properties measurements using our AutoLab and AutoScan test systems. The systems that we have developed for use in-house are also available for sale for deployment in research laboratories around the world.

NER’s measurements are integrated between multiple scales. Autoscan provides high resolution rock characterization, fast rock typing, and detailed petrophysical core scanning for smart sampling and upscaling capabilities from mm-scale data. Scanning data is then upscaled for deriving HTHP-THMC behavior by calibrating via AutoLab testing of plug samples at in-situ conditions.
All testing systems are computer controlled for maximum flexibility in test protocols. Each high-pressure system has independent, fully programmable servo-controllers for axial force, confining pressure, and pore pressure. The flexibility in feedback for each test axis in these systems allow us to perform coupled process tests on specimens up to six (6) inches in diameter at in situ pressures to 10,000 psi (70 MPa). Smaller specimens can be tested at confining pressures to 30,000 psi (200 MPa) and 450 C.
One of the key aspects that sets New England Research apart is our experience offering customized testing systems. NER is constantly exploring new technologies and methodologies to address the evolving challenges faced by the energy industry. NER’s custom testing systems, and unique measurements-solutions have garnered attention from clients all over the world who are looking for reliable and forward-thinking partners in the energy sector.
