Under an ongoing cooperative project geoscientists from NER MIT, LLNL, Boston College, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan are studying the seismisity, tectonics and probabilistic hazard assessments methodology for the Tien Shan region of Central Asia. During the meeting previously unavailable seismic data from regional networks were presented for discussion. In addition, active faults throughout the region were categorized for incorporation into probabilistic hazards assessment. The CASRI project is modeled after another successful project,
CauSIN, involving Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
